About the ProjectInsecurity Project—Making A Difference Together
Year after year, Canyon Lake Republican Women choose Caring for America projects that make a real difference for our neighbors here in Comal County. This year is no exception! TFRW has chosen food insecurity as this year's focus, and our Executive Board is excited to announce that we'll be tackling this growing challenge right here in our community. Here in Canyon Lake, we have a population of 31,124 people. Approximately 27% of our community relies on services provided by the CRRC Food Pantry at some point during the year. That represents thousands of our neighbors who may need a helping hand, and it reminds us of the tremendous need that exists right here in our own community. To help meet that need, I would like to challenge our club to collect 250 pounds of food between now and the end of the year in honor of our nation’s 250th birthday. I believe this goal is well within our reach. A typical can of vegetables, soup, or similar food item weighs about 14.5 ounces—nearly one pound. With the generosity and compassion that have always been hallmarks of our club, I know we can achieve this goal together. In addition to food donations, Caring for America gratefully accepts monetary contributions and appreciates your prayers for those facing food insecurity. I will collect donations at our monthly meetings, keep track of our progress, and deliver all contributions to the CRRC Food Pantry after each meeting.
