May 1, 2021 Uniform Election
As we know, all elections are LOCAL and we are facing a new election May 1, 2021. All filings are now complete, so it is time to look ahead and see how we can affect the vote on those people who closely govern our daily lives. These elections are non-partisan, so they are not identified as Republican or Democrat. Therefore, it is important that you look at each person carefully. Does their record coincide with your values?
NB City Council has two seats open in this election:
Comal ISD has 3 board of trustee positions on the ballot, each elected for 3 year terms:
NBISD has 2 positions on the ballot, each elected for 3 year terms:
Canyon Lake Community Library District will have one position for board of trustees on the ballot.
NB City Council has two seats open in this election:
- District 3 (currently held by Harry Bowers seeking a 2nd term). Challenger is Kevin Robles (retiree).
- District 4 (currently held by Matthew Hoyt) who is retiring from the NB City Council. Running for District 4 seat is Joy Harvey (homemaker) & Lawrence Spradley (retiree)
Comal ISD has 3 board of trustee positions on the ballot, each elected for 3 year terms:
- District 1 (currently held by Tim Hennessee who was elected in 2018). Challenger is Brittany Soto (student)
- District 2 (currently held by David Drastata who was elected in 2009, seeking his 5th term). Challenger Courtney Biasatti (youth development director)
- District 5 (currently held by Michelle Ross, who was elected in 2018). Running for 2nd term.
NBISD has 2 positions on the ballot, each elected for 3 year terms:
- District 3 (currently held by Eric Bergquist, who was elected in 2018). Running for 2nd term.
- District 5 (currently held by Board President, Sherry Harrison who was elected in 2009 and has decided to retire). Running for position is Stephen Minus.
Canyon Lake Community Library District will have one position for board of trustees on the ballot.
Dates to Remember
- Last day to register to vote in this election is Thursday, April 1, 2021.
- First day of in-person early voting is Monday, April 19, 2021.
- Last day of in-person early voting is Tuesday, April 27, 2021.
- Last day to apply for a Ballot by Mail (Received at the election office—not postmarked) is Tuesday, April 20, 2021.
- Last day to for Election Office to receive a Ballot by Mail is Saturday, May 1, 2021, at 7 PM.
- The uniform election will be held May 1, 2021.
Looking ahead to November 7, 2021, there may be four items on the ballot:
- CISD bond issue
- NBISD bond issue
- "TEXIT" secession from the US - approval to study the issue
- Consitutional amendments
November, 2022 will see a number of local and state positions on the ballot.
